CCMA nominee

Terry Joe, DESERT HEAT’s multi-instrumentalist, was nominated for a Canadian Country Music Award to be part of the ALL-Star Band in the “Specialty Instrument” Catagory for his banjo playing. The boys in the band say they are already proud of him, if he wins maybe his mom will be too!!The awards are Sept.10th.

Bluegrass in Montreal

Looking for old-time country or bluegrass music in Montreal? There’s a few places I try and make it out to weekly to pick and sing; each has it’s own particular charm…
Monday : Bob Fuller’s Hillbilly Night :THE WHEEL CLUB; 3373 Cavendish blvd. Old-time country music, openstage, 2 country songs written before 1965. buy a raffle ticket!

Wednesday: The Woodshredders Bluegrass Jam : CAFE SHAIKA; Sherbrooke st/ Girouard. traditional Bluegrass music with Terry Joe, Pat Loiselle, Roger Haughey picking  some hot instrumentals and old-time favorites, abnd backing up any and all pickers and singers! good times and pleasant atmosphere.
Thursday : Moonshiner’s Jam : GRUMPY”S; 1242 Bishop st.. Acoustic old-time,country and bluegrass, circle jam.

Sunday : Bluegrass at the Barfly : THE BARFLY;4062 St.Laurent blvd.. Bluegrass openstage, 3 songs with a pick-up band backing singer.hat-passed.
